Hello Everyone! Welcome to our first Newsletter for The
Healing House. This will be hopefully an informative, fun to read piece with contributions
made by you the readers. I look forward to anyone who has some valuable wellness FAQs or
those who are in their own business wanting to share can do so here.
Firstly, I would like to personally thank all those who made it happen. If it were not for
your belief in The Healing House, this would still just be a dream. So PLEASE PAT YOURSELVES
ON THE BACK! You are the stories, the inspirations and the gifts from the universe that make
this happen and for that I THANK YOU!!! (Now lets have some fun!).
A Change is in the Air!
Don’t you find that as the season changes so do our taste buds? Once the weather cools, we
yearn for something more substantial, more “stick to your ribs foods”. Let us welcome Fall.
It is a time of the leaves changing (already happened) and with this change comes the feeling
of settling in, hibernating and retreating to one's soul. It is a time to reflect. I like to
take this time to appreciate and have gratitude for having the ability to see leaves change or
smell not flowers but smells of the local farmers reaping their harvests, or watching the birds
and small creatures prepare their own abundance for the upcoming season. As people, we too have
to prepare. Fall is a great time to learn a gentle fast for one’s Digestive system. Preparing
the system to operate on a normal function so that our liver and other organs are strong enough
to eliminate any viruses or bacteria that we may encounter. There is a great drink to help
with this fast or aid the healing during a battle with cold virus or flu.
Influenza or the flu is caused by a virus. It can affect the upper and lower Respiratory
tract and symptoms include fever, chills, achy muscles, joints, fatigue, weakness, sore
throat and cough. YIKES! Should you want to protect yourself this season consider the
following:
Gentle Fast (recipe drink to follow)
AVOID SUGAR, just one teaspoon can compromise the immune system by several hours.
Moderate exercise - increases lymphatic flow.
DRINK 6-8 glasses daily and avoid tap water.
The following supplements boost the immune system; Vitamin E, Zinc, Garlic, Acidophilus
and Vitamin C. Vitamin C can be take in doses of 1-3000 mg spread throughout the day. It is a
great preventative and if a cold is present, will help reduce the effects by half. Echinacea may also be
added to this list, however those with hay fever allergies may find it exaggerated by this herb
flower.
Reflexology - a session helps with detoxifying and also relieves cold symptoms.
Start a nutritional program with your Nutritionist.
Wishing all of you a wonderful Fall experience.
This Month's Recipe - Enjoy!
You will need:
1/2 lemon
Maple syrup or honey to taste
1/8 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
Make a large mug with hot water, squeeze the lemon and add other ingredients. Stir and drink.
The Cayenne pepper is great for improving circulation and alleviating cold symptoms. For fasting,
have this drink in the morning and do not eat until after 10:00 a.m. It works great for cleansing
the liver. Try this recipe for one week. Enjoy!
